Park Hyatt Aviara
Multi-Million Dollar Phased Renovation and Reopening

C&R has been the agency of record for the five-star Southern California jewel for more than five years. In 2021, the resort celebrated a grand reopening following not only the pandemic but a $50 million transformation. Executing a layered approach, our campaign pre-opening tactics included desksides with top editors and a sneak peek event for key local media, building buzz and anticipation for the future reveal. 

When it came time to introduce the property—and the new, high-profile restaurant led by celebrity chef Richard Blais—we hosted a grand opening event with 15 media and influencers. To enhance third-party credibility, we also placed an emphasis on key industry awards, gaining the attention of editors from Condé Nast Traveler, Departures, and Sunset. 

Since re-opening in January 2021, we have secured more than 1.3 billion impressions and $1.5 million in ad value equivalent. As we head into our third-year post-opening, we continue to secure A-list media coverage and maintain relevancy for the coastal Carlsbad retreat with the announcement of the final phase of the renovation, a new Miraval Life in Balance Spa, which debuted summer 2023. Our PR campaign has won several acclaimed industry awards, including an HSMAI Adrian Award and PRSA Los Angeles Prism Award.

Kukui’ula
Maintaining Awareness with Strategic Partnerships + Activations

C&R was charged with concepting and promoting the Living Well ethos the luxury resort and real estate community on the South Shore of Kauai offers to both owners and guests. Our strategy was two-fold: we developed a series of programming initiatives that encouraged both owners and guests to partake in wellness at Kukui’ula, and we leveraged the property’s 29-acre farm to position the community as a true farm-to-table agrihood, which soon resulted in a multi-page cover story in The Wall Street Journal’s Mansion section.

We launched a partnership with celebrity chef Matthew Kenney Wellness to offer three weeklong retreats featuring raw/vegan classes and meals, yoga, and more. We kicked off the series inviting a senior editor of Robb Report to participate. Additional coverage included the Los Angeles Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Modern Luxury, and more.

In 2023, the property debuted its Living Well Yoga Guru Series, inviting top teachers from across the country to instruct and share their best practices for mindfulness and meditation. We secured an exclusive announcement with Forbes and several visits from top media to participate and editorialize their experiences.

Thompson & tommie Austin
Urban Hotel Opening

In 2021, C&R was brought onboard to support the opening of Thompson & tommie Austin with an emphasis on the culinary program, featuring two concepts from James Beard Foundation-award winning chef Mashama Bailey. 

Leading up to the opening, we secured exclusives for both properties in Forbes and Travel + Leisure. We continued to ideate timely angles to keep the hotels on the national stage, resulting in press from AFAR, DuJour, Forbes, FATHOM and more, as well as partnerships with local retailers including Tecovas and Austin Detours. 

Upon opening, we secured a First In feature with Condé Nast Traveler, leading to Thompson Austin’s spot on the magazine’s coveted Hot List, and worked with Capital One to spotlight the hotel in a video series for the Top Hotels to Visit in 2022. Thompson Austin was also named in Esquire’s 2023 Best New Hotels.

After garnering 400 million impressions in the first six months, the hotels continue to receive impressive placements including bon appetit, Architectural Digest, Forbes, Texas Monthly, PaperCity Magazine and more, and host key media through interactive events, such as a progressive dinner through each of the hotel’s outlets, fashion shows with local influencers, and beyond.

Montage Healdsburg
Wine Country Resort Launch

Montage Healdsburg engaged C&R in April 2020 for the opening of the brand’s first wine country resort. We executed several successful tactics to raise awareness during a challenging time, including hosting four virtual wine tastings, sending wine to a handful of top editors and encouraging our media friends to meet us in the vineyards. The response was overwhelming and almost all attendees produced a story as a result. Additional pre-opening initiatives included hard hat tours and arranging visits with top editors from Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, and Departures for early consideration for It List, Hot List, and Legends Awards. 

We also assisted with partnership development with local wineries, a yoga mat brand, a wine luggage brand, astral photographer and more. To emphasize the resort’s family-friendly appeal, we executed a media mailer for its baby amenity line targeting celebrity influencers and top editors.

Throughout the three-year campaign, we secured dozens of A-list media visits and more than 250 press hits spotlighting the resort within top target outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Departures, Travel + Leisure, Forbes, Robb Report, Town & Country, AFAR, Sunset, Modern Luxury, goop, Elite Traveler, LUXE Interiors + Design, San Francisco Chronicle, LUXURY Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, Nob Hill Gazette, Marin Magazine, Diablo Magazine, Napa Sonoma Magazine and 7×7.

The Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel
Revenue-Generating Creative Guest Programming

A landmark property since opening in 1928, the hotel brought a touch of the great outdoors to its Veranda Suite terrace with the first-ever urban glamping experience available in Los Angeles. Leading into the hotel’s 90th anniversary, the glamping offered guests a new, experiential avenue to rediscover the property. 

C&R was tasked with launching the new suite to generate awareness and, yes, revenue. We secured an exclusive with Forbes, and, a week later, hosted the annual Four Seasons Media Connect on the rooftop, introducing the experience to 25+ top media. Shortly thereafter, we secured a broadcast exclusive with AP World News. The six-minute segment was shared with 250+ networks worldwide. 

Additional coverage includes: The Wall Street Journal, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, The Los Angeles Times, Robb Report, The Hollywood Reporter, Modern Luxury, and more, resulting in over 200 million media impressions. 

Due to its success, the glamping experience has been extended indefinitely. To date, the suite has generated over half a million dollars in revenue.

The Mills House
Rebranding and Reopening of a Historic Downtown Hotel

C&R was hired in 2022 to lead the reopening campaign for the iconic, 170-year-old property in downtown Charleston, following a multi-million-dollar renovation and conversion to Hilton’s boutique portfolio, Curio Collection.

With the goal of relaunching the hotel, we coordinate an exclusive with the client’s goal publication, Forbes, followed by supporting press in key national, regional, and local outlets, including Travel + Leisure, Veranda, The Points Guy, Global Traveler, Hospitality Design, and more, in addition to key local coverage with The Post and Courier, Eater Carolinas, CHS Today, WCBD-TV, Fox 24 News, etc.

We hosted a ribbon cutting and grand reopening celebration, featuring key local officials, including the Mayor and the President of Explore Charleston, as well as attendance from more than 25 local media and influencers, in addition to more than 100 of Charleston’s top tastemakers.

To generate coverage for the new culinary outlets and build excitement and interest within the local community, we executed a dedicated influencer campaign, securing social media coverage and USG content from 20+ local and southern-based influencers.

Influencer Relations

Mayakoba: A nine-year agency partner, Mayakoba tasked C&R with securing visits for social media influencers and digital content creators within a six-week timeframe in order to secure immediate coverage, drive quarterly bookings, and increase Mayakoba’s social media following. We invited and hosted targeted travel and lifestyle influencers and bloggers, introduced them to the on-site programming that makes the Riviera Maya destination so unique. In the short campaign, we hosted 13 qualified media, resulting in 14 blog posts, 89 Instagram posts, and more than 198,000 social likes and 3,070 comments. Mayakoba’s Instagram account increased by 144,200 followers within the six-week timeframe.

Punta Mita: Looking to draw a following from the U.S., C&R worked with Punta Mita to bring in a targeted group of travel and lifestyle influencers that tap into their key fly markets. We first identified relevant partners in each of our markets from Los Angeles to Dallas—pre-vetting for engagement, audience and follower count—and brought them out to Punta Mita to experience all the coveted destination had to offer. Resulting content touched on the Punta Mita lifestyle from the gourmet culinary and ocean adventures to luxurious beach clubs and real estate offerings.  We hosted six influencers over the course of the campaign, who each delivered a diverse set of coverage ranging from static posts and reels to blog posts and story highlights—all reaching an engaged audience of over 600,000.

Mozza Baja, Costa Palmas: C&R announced a collaboration with James Beard Foundation Award winner, author and restauranteur Nancy Silverton, launching her first restaurant in Mexico at Costa Palmas, Mozza Baja. We secured an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter with additional national coverage in outlets such as The Cut, EaterLA, LUXURY Magazine, and more.

il Modo, The Kimpton Harper: C&R was brought on to support The Kimpton Harper and its outlets a year after opening and has since created one of the city’s most coveted reservations through consistent media visits, impactful press, and curated programming. il Modo has topped local Best New Restaurant, Best Italian Restaurant and Best Hotel Restaurant lists, with Refinery 714 considered one of the city’s top imbibing destinations with themed partnerships and pop-ups, including a Secret Garden with Belvedere and Boho Disco with Pendleton Whisk.

Cork & Fork, Grand Hotel: C&R played an integral role in developing a new, annual three-day culinary and wine festival. With the goal of showcasing female talent from across the country, C&R secured six high-profile female guest chefs, as well as a partnership with the James Beard Foundation and charity beneficiary with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Following the inaugural success of Cork & Fork, C&R secured coverage in Robb Report, Midwest Living, Food & Wine, as well as other national and target regional media outlets.

Strategic Partnerships + Integrations

Beyond traditional media relations, C&R brokers strategic partnerships to further align our clients with like-minded brands, exposing them to target audiences in impactful ways. These collaborations elevate offerings and on-property programming, differentiating our clients from competitors and solidifying them as trend setters to drive coverage locally, regionally and nationally.​

Robb Report: We created an opportunity for RR1 members (an exclusive community of a select group of individuals who are able to enjoy unique access to luxury through Signature Events and experiences) to experience the island of Caye Chapel in order to help funnel sales prospects to the destination.

CAA: We arranged partnerships with Costa Baja and Kukui’ula to execute a VIP influencer program with the top 30 agents at CAA, resulting in a home sale, increased qualified leads, and repeat hotel guests.

Casa Dragones: We hosted an event at the Mexico-themed Cirque du Soleil show, LUZIA, in partnership with the high-end tequila brand to introduce Montage Los Cabos to LA media ahead of its opening.

TasteMade: As one of our client’s wish list outlets, we successfully negotiated an earned media placement online and social—at no cost to the client—showcasing the destination’s epicurean experiences, which resulted in 30k+ impressions.
